How to apply wallpapers and photomurals

If you want to make your room unique, our wallpaper will surely be the answer. The problem can be the cost for the application of the same. If you love to do craft work you can, without spending money if not those of the material, apply the wallpaper yourself. In the following guide you will be explained how to do it. Let's see how to proceed.

1. Preparing the wall

The wall to be papered must be smooth, clean and free of any residues. Any unevenness should be evened out  with filler. Old wallpaper should be removed and any oil-based paint should be removed or sanded down.

2. Preparing for pasting

Lay out the non-woven wallpaper on the ground in front of the wall and check the correct order of the individual sections. Make sure the dimensions of the non-woven wallpaper fit your wall. To mark the position of the first length, we suggest  drawing guiding lines to mark (with a pencil) using a spirit level.

3. Preparation the wallpaper paste

Buy the wallpaper paste and mix as follows:

- For 1 part of wallpaper or photomural, measuring 100x254cm
25g to 0,55 liters water

- For 2 part of wallpaper or photomural, measuring 200x254cm
50g to 1.10 liters water

- For 3 part of wallpaper or photomural, measuring 300x254cm
75g to 1.65 liters water

Sprinkle the paste into cold water and stir briskly for 30 seconds. Wait for 3 minutes and stir again thorougly. Leave the paste for 15-20 minutes and stir it thorougly once more before use.

4. Applying the non-woven wallpaper

Non-woven wallpaper can be applied following the usual methods for wallpaper pasting; i.e. apply the paste evenly to the wall with a roller. Afterwards  press the wallpaper with a clean cloth, soft roller or a brush; working from top to bottom and from inside to outside. Preferably begin on the far left hand side and check while pressing that the lengths are hung seamlessly.

5. Drying process

Drying should take place slowly and preferably at a room temperature of approx. 20 ° C (when the wallpaper dries too quickly it may become cracked or flaky). If papering walls in winter, the room should be heated and the windows closed to avoid drafts.
